Today is a Gift (That’s Why They Call It ‘The Present’)

Depression is often described as a feeling of sadness for the past, where anxiety is often described as a worry for the future. If “living in the moment” is something to strive for, how exactly can we live in the present when our mind is constantly worrying about the past or planning for the future?

Each day I remind myself how lucky we are to be alive. Despite all odds, we are living and experiencing life together in this moment on this spinning orb in space.

So I ask you to think about this every day:

Each morning when you wake up, you open two gifts: they are your eyes. And each day you are able to present a gift to others: your unique smile. When you’re smiling, the whole world smiles with you. And with the power of the world smiling, all the problems in this life seem small. The result: a happier and more fulfilling life.
